When an error of any type appears in a cell in our spreadsheet (# N / A, # VALUE! , #DIV / 0! , # NAME? , #NUM! , #NULL! , # REF !) a sense of frustration through our bodies and our minds.
But it is even worse when we found that we had other formulas related to this erroneous cell also return an error .
And ... is that errors are being generally fatal with formulas and functions . Although , wait ... there is not all bad relationship.
There is very little known for its versatility and versatility function is a " Swiss army knife" of the functions and also is able to ignore and live with the errors.
It is the function ADD and although it may seem by name which is dedicated only to " add " is not, but we can assign any of the functions of an interesting list .
We only have to look to its structure:
= ADD ( Function_num ; Options, Ref1 , ref2 ... )
where
Function_num = a key number that identifies the function we want to use ( see below key table ) .
Options = a key number that identifies the conditions under which it will work the function selected in the previous argument ( see below key table )
Ref1 , ref2 ... = Ranges acting on the function.
in the image below we can see in action the ADD function , configured to apply the SUM ( # 9 ) function, omitting errors ( # 6 ) , the range F2: F12.
